إعتبر وزير الخارجية الإسرائيلي إيلي كوهين الأربعاء أنّ ولاية الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش تمثّل “تهديداً للسلام العالمي” بعد أن طلب الأخير تفعيل آلية نادرة في مجلس الأمن الدولي بشأن الحرب في قطاع غزة.
وقال كوهين في منشور على منصّة إكس (تويتر سابقاً) إنّ “ولاية غوتيريش تمثّل تهديداً للسلام العالمي.. إنّ مطالبته بتفعيل المادة 99 (من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة) والدعوة لوقف لإطلاق النار في غزة يشكّلان دعماً لمنظمة حماس الإرهابية”.
وفي وقت سابق أعلن الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش، الخميس، تفعيل المادة 99 من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة، لوصف الوضع في قطاع غزة وإسرائيل، بإعتباره “تهديدا للسلم والأمن الدوليين”.
وبحسب بيان نشر على الموقع الإلكتروني للأمم المتحدة، فإن غوتيريش أرسل خطابا إلى رئيس مجلس الأمن، الأربعاء، يفعّل فيه للمرة الأولى المادة 99 من ميثاق الأمم المتحدة “نظرا لحجم الخسائر في الأرواح في غزة وإسرائيل في غضون فترة وجيزة”.
وتنص المادة المذكورة على أن “للأمين العام أن ينبه مجلس الأمن إلى أية مسألة يرى أنها قد تهدد حفظ السلم والأمن الدوليين”.
وقال غوتيريش على منصة “إكس”: “في مواجهة الخطر الجسيم لإنهيار النظام الإنساني في غزة، أحث مجلس الأمن على المساعدة في تجنب وقوع كارثة إنسانية وأناشد إعلان وقف إنساني لإطلاق النار”.
ومطلع ديسمبر/ كانون الأول الجاري أعرب غوتيريش عن أسفه الشديد لإستئناف الحرب الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، معربا عن أمله في تجديد الهدنة الإنسانية (انتهت في 1 ديسمبر) بين إسرائيل وفصائل المقاومة الفلسطينية.
وتعرض غوتيريش أكثر من مرة، لهجوم شديد من مسؤولين إسرائيليين، جراء تصريحاته المتعلقة بحرب غزة، لاسيما من قبل مندوب تل أبيب الأممي جلعاد إردان الذي وصفه بأنه “فاقد لبوصلته الأخلاقية”، بعد تصريحات غوتيريش التي قال فيها إن غزة أصبحت “مقبرة” للأطفال.
ومنذ 7 أكتوبر/تشرين أول الماضي يشن الجيش الإسرائيلي حربا مدمرة على قطاع غزة، خلّفت حتى مساء الثلاثاء 16 ألفا و248 شهيدا، بينهم 7112 طفلا و4885 امرأة، بالإضافة إلى 43 ألفا و616 جريحا، فضلا عن دمار هائل في البنية التحتية وكارثة إنسانية غير مسبوقة، بحسب مصادر رسمية فلسطينية وأممية.
