امتدت حالة الغضب من قرارات تسريح الموظفين الحكوميين في الولايات المتحدة التي يقودها الملياردير إيلون ماسك، إلى مجلس الشيوخ حيث شارك العشرات في مسيرة جابت أروقة المجلس.
ودخل الموظفون الفدراليون الذين تعقبهم عناصر أمن محذرين إياهم من عرقلة الحركة في أروقة المبنى، إلى مكاتب عدد من أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ الجمهوريين، بينهم زعيم الغالبية جون ثون للتعبير عن استيائهم.
وحسب الوكالة، فقد أحدثت حملة ماسك غير المسبوقة على الموظفين المدنيين في الأسابيع الأولى لتولي إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب الثانية السلطة هزّة في مختلف الوكالات، ما ترك الموظفين الحكوميين يعانون من الإرباك والمرارة.
وقال ستيف إن “الجميع يشعرون بالألم”، موضحا أنه بينما أبدى بعض أعضاء مجلس الشيوخ “استجابة” في البداية، إلا أنهم “التزموا الصمت” لدى سؤالهم عما يمكنهم القيام به للمساعدة.
ولم يقابل نهج ترامب القائم على سياسة الصدمة والترويع عبر سيل الأوامر التنفيذية التي أصدرها لترك بصمته اليمينية المتشددة على كل مسألة في الحكومة، باحتجاجات شعبية واسعة على غرار تلك التي شوهدت في بداية ولايته الأولى عام 2017.
لكن هناك مقاومة من قبل الموظفين الفدراليين الحاليين والسابقين الذي يردون عبر تنظيم تظاهرات وحملات إعلامية فضلا عن استقالات في صفوف كبار الموظفين ودعاوى قضائية.
وحسب وكالة الصحافة الفرنسية، فقد انتشرت صفحات على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي ورسائل ومواقع إلكترونية يتابعها الآلاف، تهدف للتعبئة ومشاركة كيفية تأثير تدابير خفض العمالة على المواطنين الأميركيين.. كما باتت الاحتجاجات في مجلس الشيوخ حدثا يوميا رغم أن حجمها يختلف من يوم لآخر.
وقال موظف فدرالي شارك في تنظيم الاحتجاجات وطلب أيضا عدم الكشف عن هويته “علينا إنقاذ أنفسنا”.
واحتج بعض الموظفين الفدراليين عبر تقديم استقالاتهم، حيث شهدت الأيام الماضية استقالة حوالى ثلث الموظفين في قسم التكنولوجيا التابع لـ”إدارة الكفاءة الحكومية” (دوج DOGE) التي يديرها ماسك، قائلين إنهم لن يعملوا بطريقة تعرّض البلاد إلى الخطر.
وقبل مغادرة الموظفين البالغ عددهم حوالي 20 شخصا، أنشأ موظفون فدراليون موقعا إلكترونيا تحت اسم “نحن البناة” لمشاركة قصص عن تأثير ما تقوم به إدارة “دوج”، مشيرين إلى أن إجراءاتها تشل قدرة الوكالات على تقديم خدمات أساسية.
ويحمل جزء من شعار المجموعة ملعقة باتت رمزا يستخدمه الموظفون الفدراليون الآن للاحتجاج على قرارات ماسك، مستوحى من رسالة وصلت عبر البريد الإلكتروني من فريقه تحت عنوان “شوكة في الطريق”، وهي عبارة تشير بالإنجليزية إلى مفترق حاسم في الحياة. وعرضت الرسالة على الموظفين الحكوميين إما ترك وظائفهم مع الحصول على رواتب 8 أشهر أو المخاطرة بأن تتم إقالتهم مستقبلا.
