أعلن وزير الدفاع اللبناني موريس سليم، الخميس، تكليف رئيس الأركان اللواء الركن حسان عودة، بقيادة الجيش مؤقتا، وذلك عقب شغور المنصب بعد انتخاب قائده السابق جوزاف عون رئيسا للبلاد.
أفادت بذلك وكالة الأنباء اللبنانية، لافتة إلى أن الوزير سليم وقّع قرار تكليف عودة بقيادة الجيش، الذي يدخل حيز التنفيذ اعتبارا من اليوم، على أن يستمر العمل به حتى تعيين قائد جديد للجيش رسميا.
وعصر اليوم، انتخب البرلمان اللبناني جوزيف عون بأغلبية 99 نائبا من أصل 128.
وقبل انتخابه رئيسا، كان عون قائدا للجيش منذ 2017، وأصبح خامس قائد جيش في تاريخ لبنان يصل إلى رئاسة الجمهورية والرابع تواليا، والرئيس الـ14 للبلاد على العموم.
وجاء انتخاب عون ليضع حدا لفترة فراغ رئاسي تجاوزت عامين، وخلفت أزمة سياسية أثرت سلبا على كافة مناحي الحياة في البلاد.
فجراء خلافات بين القوى السياسية، عاش لبنان فراغا رئاسيا منذ انتهاء ولاية الرئيس السابق ميشال عون في 31 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول 2022، وفشلت 12 جلسة سابقة للبرلمان في انتخاب رئيس للبلاد.
وتستمر ولاية عون 6 أعوام، ولا يجوز إعادة انتخابه إلا بعد مرور 6 سنوات على انتهاء ولايته.
ويُعتبر رئيس الجمهورية في لبنان رمز وحدة الوطن وحامي الدستور، وله دور في توقيع القوانين وتعيين رئيس الوزراء بالتشاور مع مجلس النواب.
وحسب العرف السياسي السائد في البلاد، يجب أن يكون رئيس الجمهورية مسيحيا من الطائفة المارونية، بينما يعود منصب رئيس الحكومة للطائفة السنية، ومنصب رئيس مجلس النواب للطائفة الشيعية.
