أعلنت وزارة الدفاع الأميركية الخميس أن الولايات المتحدة بدأت بناء رصيف بحري في غزة لزيادة وصول المساعدات إلى القطاع الفلسطيني المحاصر.
وقال الناطق بإسم البنتاغون الميجور جنرال بات رايد لصحافيين “أؤكد أن سفنا حربية أميركية بدأت بناء المراحل الأولى من رصيف في البحر”.
ومن شأن هذه المنصة الموقتة في البحر أن تسمح لسفن عسكرية أو مدنية بتفريغ حمولتها على أن تنقل المساعدات لاحقا بواسطة سفن دعم لوجيستي إلى رصيف على الشاطئ.
وقال مسؤولون أميركيون إن هذا المسعى لا يتضمن “نشر قوات على الأرض” في قطاع غزة الذي يشهد حربا.. لكن جنودا أميركيين سيكونون بجوار قطاع غزة خلال بناء الرصيف الذي ستشرف عليه قوات إسرائيلية أيضا.
وستكلف منظمات غير حكومية على الأرجح توزيع المساعدات بعد وصولها إلى القطاع على ما أفادت وزارة الدفاع الأميركية في وقت سابق.
