ذكرت صحيفة “وول ستريت جورنال” الأمريكية، بأن إسرائيل تخطط لنقل قواتها إلى مدينة رفح جنوبي قطاع غزة استعدادا للهجوم الذي من المتوقع أن يستمر ستة أسابيع على الأقل، في ظل تراجع التوترات بين إسرائيل وإيران.
وذكرت الصحيفة الأمريكية عبر موقعها الإلكتروني، أن مدينة (رفح) التي تعد أخر مدينة رئيسية لم تغزوها إسرائيل يتخذ منها أكثر من مليون فلسطيني مأوى لهم، حيث تضاعف أعداد النازحين إليها بثلاثة أضعاف؛ فضلا عن جوارها للمحطات الحدودية من مصر وإسرائيل؛ ما يضاعف التحذير من التحرك واسع النطاق الذي قد يتسبب في سقوط ضحايا من المدنيين ويعطل جهود المساعدات.
وأشارت إلى أن رئيس وزراء إسرائيل بنيامين نتنياهو، أكد يوم الأحد، أنه “في الأيام المقبلة سيزيد الضغط العسكري والدبلوماسي على حماس، لأنها الطريقة الوحيدة لإطلاق سراح المحتجزين وتحقيق الانتصار، لافتة إلى مضي إسرائيل قدمًا، رغم معارضة أهم حلفائها الولايات المتحدة، بشكل صريح يمكن أن يتسبب في سقوط ضحايا على نطاق واسع بين المدنيين وتعطيل جهود المساعدات الإنسانية التي تهدف إلى منع المجاعة، وقد ضغطت الولايات المتحدة على إسرائيل لإعادة النظر في هجوم واسع النطاق على (رفح).
وأكدت أن ما يقرب من ثلثي سكان غزة يحتمون بشكل مؤقت في (رفح) وفر الكثيرون من منازلهم مع تحرك الجيش الإسرائيلي جنوبا في الأشهر الأخيرة عبر القطاع الذي تبلغ مساحته مساحة (واشنطن) العاصمة تقريبا.
ولفتت (وول ستريت جورنال) إلى أن أي توغل عسكري كبير يمثل رهانًا استراتيجيًا.. ففي حالة ارتفاع عدد القتلى المدنيين سيؤدي ذلك لتآكل مكانة إسرائيل الدولية وإضعاف العلاقات مع الولايات المتحدة، وعند محاولة خفض عدد القتلى المدنيين يمكن أن تجعل ساحة المعركة أكثر خطورة بالنسبة للقوات الإسرائيلية؛ مما يؤدي إلى ارتفاع معدلات الضحايا لديهم.
كما نقلت عن المدير الأول لمركز القوة العسكرية والسياسية في مؤسسة الدفاع عن الديمقراطيات برادلي بومان، القول: “إذا فشلت إسرائيل في إبعاد المدنيين عن طريق الأذى، أعتقد حقًا أن هذا قد يكون كارثة استراتيجية كبرى لإسرائيل ويخلق أحد الضغوطات الرئيسية على العلاقات الثنائية التي شهدناها منذ سنوات”.
