أعلنت الجزائر الخميس إجراء انتخابات رئاسية “مسبقة” في السابع من ايلول/سبتمبر 2024، أي قبل ثلاثة أشهر من موعدها المقرر أصلا.
وقالت رئاسة الجمهورية في بيان صدر إثر اجتماع ترأسه الرئيس عبد المجيد تبون وحضره خصوصا رئيس الوزراء ورئيسا غرفتي البرلمان ورئيس أركان الجيش ورئيس المحكمة الدستورية، “قرر رئيس الجمهورية، القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة، وزير الدفاع الوطني، السيد عبد المجيد تبون، إجراء انتخابات رئاسية مسبقة يوم 7 سبتمبر (أيلول) 2024”.
وجرت آخر إنتخابات رئاسية في 12 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2019، وفاز فيها تبون بحصوله على 58 في المئة من الأصوات. وخلف يومها عبد العزيز بوتفليقة الذي دفع إلى الاستقالة العام 2019 بضغط من الجيش والحراك الاحتجاجي الشعبي.
وقد توفي بوتفليقة في أيلول/سبتمبر 2021.
وتنتهي ولاية تبون التي تستمر خمس سنوات في كانون الأول/ديسمبر المقبل. ولم يتم إعلان أي أسباب لتبرير إجراء الانتخابات في شكل مبكر.. كذلك، لم يعلن تبون ما إذا كان سيترشح لولاية ثانية.
