قال متحدث بإسم شركة طيران الشرق الأوسط، الناقل الوطني في لبنان، إن الشركة ستضع خمسا من طائراتها البالغ عددها 24 في تركيا كإجراء إحترازي في حالة نشوب الحرب ، حيث أوضح المتحدث أن هذه الخطوة لن تؤثر على عملياتها وأن جميع الرحلات الجوية ستستمر كالمعتاد.
وقال المتحدث بإسم شركة طيران الشرق الأوسط إن الطائرات الخمس جرى نقلها إلى مطار إسطنبول بتركيا في مطلع الأسبوع وستظل هناك حتى إشعار آخر، في حين أن بقية طائرات الأسطول وعددها 19 ستعمل بشكل طبيعي.
وأضاف المتحدث أن الشركة نبهت موظفيها بأن يكونوا على أهبة الإستعداد إذا دعت الحاجة إلى تنفيذ خطة طوارئ لنقل المزيد من الطائرات من المطار، وقال “إنها خطة في حالة الطوارئ ولن نلجأ إليها إن شاء الله”.
وكانت الشركة قد أخرجت جميع طائراتها من مطار بيروت في بداية حرب عام 2006 التي إستمرت شهرا وأسفرت عن إستشهاد 1200 شخص في لبنان معظمهم من المدنيين ومقتل157 إسرائيليا معظمهم من الجنود، حيث تعرض المطار في وقت لاحق للقصف وتوقف عن العمل.
