ونقلت وكالة تونس أفريقيا للأنباء الرسمية عن مسؤول بوزارة الإقتصاد والتخطيط إن “مجموعة إستثمارات إماراتية (أبو خاطر) جددت محادثاتها مع الحكومة التّونسية لإعادة إطلاق مشروع المدينة الرياضية المعطل”.
وأطلق المشروع في مايو 2008 في عهد الرئيس الراحل زين العابدين بن علي ، بعد تصويت البرلمان التونسي بالموافقة عليه، لكنه جُمد في 2011 بعد الثورة .
ويمتد المشروع على مساحة 265 هكتارًا، باستثمارات تقدر بحوالي 14.6 مليون دينار تونسية (5 مليارات دولار)، وسيوفر نحو 10 آلاف فرصة عمل بتونس، وفق الوكالة التونسية.
ويتكون المشروع من حي رياضي بمساحة 29 هكتارًا، وأكاديمية رياضية وملعب غولف على مساحة 81 هكتارا، ومساحة سكنية تمتد على 128 هكتارا، ومن المتوقع أن يوفر المشروع نحو 10 ألاف موطن شغل بتونس .
