وقد صُنّفت الشركات وفقًا لحجم استثماراتها، وقيمة الأعمال، والأداء، والنشاط التجاري خلال العام الماضي، وتاريخ الشركة وإرثها، فضلًا عن مدى تنوع الأعمال من حيث القطاعات والامتداد الجغرافي.
وتعد عائلات دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي الأكثر نجاحًا في مشهد الشركات العائلية، حيث تنتمي 34 من أصل 100 شركة عائلية مُصنفة في القائمة إلى السعودية، تليها الإمارات بـ28 شركة، ثم قطر والكويت بـ7 شركات لكل منهما.
